Struggling with the loss of a loved one can be difficult. Don’t go the journey alone, others can help through this great time of need. You can learn how to manage the stressors of loss through the creative arts process. This is a blog of that creative journey. This month, a repotted orchid in group, bloomed for the first time in its' new pot. The following is a snippet of group poetry discussion therein.

Switch Back Trains:

Is there a middle between joy and grief?

How do you know it?

How do you travel that path?

I once had a vision of a bear

Watching me come undone

Naked

On the kitchen floor.

I try to make the best of it-

Unraveling

One string at a time

It’s really freeing to not care

What I’m going to look like

In my heart

I wasn’t allowed to make mistakes

They weren’t allowed to make mistakes either

Burning strands melting into-

There’s a lot of loose ends in my heart

Do they unravel on string at a time?

No, I’ve tied them really tight.

The heart is tricky

Sometimes the yarn is broken

and that’s Ok.
